BT Sport launches new Champions League advertising campaign

Some of the biggest names in world football attended an exclusive 'House Party' as BT Sport celebrates the arrival of the Champions League and Europa League.

BT Sport has launched an advertising campaign featuring some of the biggest names in world football to celebrate becoming the new home of the Champions League and Europa League.

A total of 13 Champions League winners, boasting 16 trophies between them, appear in the BT Sport ‘House Party’, which you can watch now by simply opening the player above.

Real Madrid’s Gareth Bale, PSG defender David Luiz, ex-Chelsea star Didier Drogba, Man City keeper Joe Hart, Arsenal’s Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Bayern Munich trio Franck Ribery, Thiago Alcântara and Philipp Lahm are among the stars getting into the party spirit.

Also enjoying the festivities are BT Sport pundits and presenters Steven Gerrard, Rio Ferdinand, Michael Owen, Steve McManaman, Owen Hargreaves, Robbie Savage, Jake Humphrey, James Richardson and Lynsey Hipgrave.

The campaign showcases the incredible value of the BT Sport package, which gives BT TV customers free access to all 351 Champions League and Europa League games next season.

This comes hot on the heels of last week’s Ultra HD launch, when BT released details of its Ultra HD TV package.

How do I sign up for BT Sport?

BT TV customers can receive the full BT Sport Pack for free – comprising BT Sport 1, BT Sport 2, ESPN on BT Sport and the brand new BT Sport Europe channel, which launches on August 1.

BT Broadband customers who choose to watch on their Sky service, via the BT Sport App or on BT Mobile, will be able to add the BT Sport Pack for a small charge of £5 a month.

Why watch the Champions League on BT Sport?

BT Sport Europe is the only place you can watch UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League live - you can no longer watch any of these matches on ITV or Sky Sports.

However, BT will also make some matches available for everyone to watch, whether a subscriber or not, via a new, free-to-air channel on digital TV.

Called BT Sport Showcase, this channel will show a minimum of 12 UEFA Champions League matches and 14 UEFA Europa League matches and these will be available to anyone to watch for free. Each participating British team will be shown at least once.

What new features are there?

A stellar line-up of presenters and pundits – boosted by recent signings such as Lineker and Gerrard - will help to deliver the optimal coverage of the world’s two greatest continental club competitions.

A Connected Red Button service will allow BT TV viewers to switch between matches and track the action with a new ‘Goal Alert’ function which will let the viewer know when a goal is scored in any of the games and check the latest stats.

Every game will be broadcast live on BTSport.com and on the BT Sport App. The app will include a new game timeline feature, allowing fans to view goals and events from any game, at any time.

Fans will also be able to watch key events from multiple camera angles and enjoy a wealth of in-game analysis through new tournament and match pages.

What is Ultra HD?

BT has announced that in August it will also launch the first Ultra HD (4K) channel in Europe, BT Sport Ultra HD, and will also introduce a new BT TV Ultra HD set top box.

Ultra HD offers stunning picture quality with four times the detail of HD and will be the star of BT’s top TV package, Entertainment Ultra HD.

The Community Shield between Arsenal and Chelsea on August 2 will be the first broadcast, with other live events shown throughout the season, including selected games from the Champions League, Barclays Premier League, FA Cup and Aviva Premiership Rugby.
